screen time (12:04)
Updated: Sep 26, 2021
This is a companion video to "mirror, mirror, on the wall." Like that video, this one is best watched while you're alone & undistracted.
Here, I apply the same aperture-lems metaphor we used in mirror games onto our screens: phone screens, tablet screens, tv screens, movie screens, etc. I try to demonstrate how screens draw is in by inviting the mind to create the illusion of depth. Unseeing the illusion, by focusing on the flatness of the pixel-filled screen, helps break the entrancement of screenland, & helps us better recognize, understand, & appreciate the various lenses of attention we alternate between throughout our days.
