In this video I describe a technique for counterbalancing negativity: translating pain within the mind or body as a positive phrase repeating. E.g., if my heart feels heavy or troubled, I can tune into my heartbeat, and then imagine my heartbeat saying something like "love" or "healing." Let each beat be a syllable in the phrase. The idea behind this is, when we feel pain, our mind's natural reaction is to be bothered - which only introduces more negativity to the situation, which often leads to more pain, and then more frustration, in a vicious cycle. This tehcnique can break the vicious cycle, promote calmness, reconnect us with the body, and generally help us feel better.
